The majority of children that have weight related issues suffer from a combination of poor dietary habits that are compounded by a sedentary lifestyle. Since children have different nutritional/caloric requirements than adults, NEVER place a pediatric patient on a very low calorie diet (VLCD)!
We recommend that the average “overweight”or obese child consume 800-1000 calories per day.

6-7 oz precooked lean protein
6-7 oz precooked low starch fresh vegetables
6-7 oz low sugar fresh fruit
